Reading the UV index
July 1, 2026 · 2 min read
The UV index is a standardized measure of ultraviolet radiation risk. MSRX WeatherWatch shows the day's maximum UV index and classifies it using the World Health Organization bands.
The categories
Low (0–2): no protection needed for most people. Moderate (3–5): seek shade near midday. High (6–7): protection required. Very High (8–10): extra protection, avoid midday sun. Extreme (11+): take all precautions.
The Sun & UV card also shows sunrise, sunset, a computed day length, and an approximate golden-hour window — handy for planning outdoor activity and photography.
